Energy Conversation
The Pentagon's Office of Force Transformation and the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics are hosting a series of conferences on energy use and conservation. The Energy Conversation is bringing high-level attention to this national energy issue by providing a forum to engage senior leaders, academics and researchers, both inside and outside of government.
Why is the DoD hosting this series? Just as the Defense Department played a critical role in forging the information evolution in past decades, so can the Department play a similarly critical role in fueling the upcoming energy shifts necessary in coming decades.
March 27, 2006 Former CIA director R. James Woolsey lead the series with "Energy, Security and the Long War of the 21st Century" at the Doubletree Hotel in Crystal City, VA.
Monday April 24, 2006 Rep. Bartlett [R-MD] is the Chair of the House Armed Service Committee's Force Projection subcommittee. He joined Dr. Robert Hirsch of SAIC to discuss Averting a Liquid Fuels Crisis from "Peak Oil."
Monday May 22 Jeremy Rifkin joined the group to discuss "The Hydrogen Economy.
Monday June 20, Energy investment banker Matthew R. Simmons discussed the world oil market and "Twilight in the Desert."
